NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Defensemen Pickups Feb. 27 - Ducks' LaCombe, Bruins' Lohrei Stay Hot; Provorov, Edvinsson Set For High-Scoring Clash - chof 360 news

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of chof360 leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Jackson LaCombe, ANA vs. VAN (35% rostered)

Another point will extend LaCombe’s points streak to four games and this is a good matchup with the Canucks playing the second half of a back-to-back while the Ducks are back at home following a three-game road trip. LaCombe’s ice time has increased significantly post-4 Nations, averaging over 25 minutes per game.

Sean Durzi, UTA vs. MIN (26% rostered)

Durzi’s still available in most leagues even though he’s rostered in twice the numbers of leagues than he was last week. He possesses modest upside in all categories with some added bonus with PP2.

Tony DeAngelo, NYI at BOS (26% rostered)

Noah Dobson is expected to play, which will eat into DeAngelo’s ice time. However, note DeAngelo’s points have all come via even strength so far, and he remains paired with Alexander Romanov on their top pairing. DeAngelo has notched an assist in each of his past two games.

Mason Lohrei, BOS vs. NYI (10% rostered)

Lohrei’s a great streaming option with Charlie McAvoy unavailable, quarterbacking the Bruins’ top power play. Lohrei’s offensive upside isn’t huge – he’s not a long-term PP1 QB – but he’s also averaging over 21 minutes over the past two games and scored four assists with 10 shots. He’s clearly taken more onus on creating offense, and that bodes well for his fantasy value.

Ivan Provorov, CBJ at DET (10% rostered)

After Zach Werenski, Provorov’s the next best option on the Jackets blue line. He scored a goal and an assist in a win against the Stars, and now faces a weaker defensive team in the Wings. Provorov’s goal was his fourth in six games dating back to Feb. 2, which is a good sign his hot streak has not abated and his play remains trending upward.

Simon Edvinsson, DET vs. CBJ (5% rostered)

I expect this to be a high-scoring game, given the amount of talent each team possesses. Edvinsson scored two goals in their previous game against the Wild, and has a good chance to extend his points streak against a Jackets team that scores as many goals as it allows. With Erik Gustafsson in the lineup, Edvinsson will likely not see any time on the PP, but does play on a high-upside second pairing with top prospect Albert Johansson.
